Responsible for all aspects of leading the district of over 11,000 students, 22 schools, and nearly 1,300 staff members with a budget of $136 million. The district includes the City of Marysville and the Tulalip Indian Reservation. Our student body is very diverse, speaking 36 languages and coming from around the world. Nearly 50 percent of families qualify for free or reduced lunch.

Responsible for the oversight of all functions and procedures of the department and all federal, state and local government requirements. Lead negotiator for the collective bargaining process for all negotiated agreements for all employee groups.

Provided systematic leadership for teaching and learning while facilitating and working collaboratively on financial forecasting, budget development and district management. Developed community partnerships to enhance services to students and families throughout the District. Responsible for short- and long-term planning for all facilities, including overseeing construction projects focused on improved school features with an emphasis on energy savings, efficiency and cost savings. Served as lead district negotiator in bargaining for multiple contracts including teachers, office professionals, and para-educators, maintenance and custodial, and food service workers. Successfully passed a three-year Maintenance and Operations Levy with the highest approval rating in recent history. Other focus areas included community relations such as active participation in the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary and Community Mobilization Policy Board.

Provided instructional leadership for a successful comprehensive high school. Worked collaboratively with students, staff, parents and the community to manage and lead an extremely successful comprehensive school. During tenure as principal, Pullman High School was named a Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education, and recognized as one of the highest performing schools in Washington.
