Pinewood Elementary

Our staff is working hard over the summer attending various trainings. This includes AVID, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. We had four staff members attend this year and four last year. AVID's goal is to close the achievement gap and to make sure each student is college ready. Our staff also attended GLAD training, which stands for Guided Language Acquisition Design. The GLAD model provides a language-rich constructive environment and uses a variety of engagement techniques. GLAD was designed to support English Language students, but in reality the model supports all students.  We are proud to be trained in GLAD and be an AVID school!
