About the School
Pinewood Elementary School, the home of the Panthers, has been serving the Marysville community since 1968, a neighborhood that since has grown in diversity and maintains a long-standing friendly, community feel.
Pinewood is home to over 500 students and includes the District’s Highly Capable Program for qualified students in grades 2-5. Our teachers are experienced (over 17 years of teaching experience per teacher, on average), skilled (⅔ of our teachers have Master’s degrees), and caring.
Students and families speak enthusiastically about our positive learning environment, and we have an active, highly involved PTSA that all families are encouraged to join! We also have a growing Natural Leaders program that supports students and families that primarily speak a language other than English at home.
Our staff can connect families to a wealth of community services and support systems to ensure that all children come to school each day ready to learn and achieve at high levels.
At Pinewood, and throughout the Marysville School District, we are working hard to Engage, Inspire, and Prepare our students to thrive as contributing members of the 21st century, and have committed to supporting our students through the Common Core State Standards and the assessments associated with them. As we strive to match our teaching practices to the needs of our future generations, we consistently engage together in professional learning and data analysis, and are currently exploring K-5 English/Language Arts materials District-wide in an effort to adopt the most valid and reliable curriculum available.
We encourage current and prospective families to contact our office to schedule a visit and to meet our principal, Kathy Thornton. Our doors are always open! Go Panthers!
