COVID-19, Daily Update, March 9, 2020

District staff continue to monitor and adapt to emerging information about the ongoing COVID-19 situation in our district and region. The good news is we have not had any additional presumed or confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 associated with our district today or over the weekend. We remain in daily contact with the Snohomish Health District, and we continue to follow their recommendations on this issue.

The Washington State Department of Health and the Snohomish Health District recommend keeping schools open at this time, so we are implementing additional measures to mitigate the risk for our students, staff, and community and to minimize the ongoing disruption caused by school closures.

Our custodial department has streamlined a process for disinfecting schools on an ongoing and regular basis. We will be disinfecting multiple school building(s) each night with the ability to adapt to daily developments.

The plan will focus efforts on touch zones, the areas where staff and students touch regularly including: all horizontal and frequently touched surfaces including teacher desks, chairs, countertops, walls, and floors.

Surfaces will be left cleared off each night, so we can determine buildings for disinfection after school is out each day.

Thank you for your continued patience and ongoing support as we navigate all of this together.
