COVID

COVID-19, Daily Update, March 10, 2020

We are closely monitoring the emerging situation related to the COVID-19 outbreak in our region. This situation continues to evolve, and there are new developments every day. As information and the situation changes, we will continue to plan for as well as respond to the recommendations and information provided by our state, county, and local health officials. We continue to be in direct daily contact with all of them. We also do not have any new COVID-19 presumptive positive or confirmed positive cases associated with our district as of today.

Our custodians and facility crews are working extremely hard to keep our schools disinfected and clean, including an emphasis during the day on high touch surfaces and new disinfecting procedures that can address multiple schools every night. Teachers are working to clear walls and surfaces, so newly implemented disinfecting procedures are more effective. And finally, we have amazing staff working hard every day to maintain calm and productive learning environments for children in the midst of an unprecedented issue in the life of our school district.

There is a lot of internal and external uncertainty surrounding the immediate future of our region and specifically our schools, as state and local officials discuss, sometimes publicly, different ideas to mitigate this emerging public health concern. We are resolved as a district to do the very best we can for our students, each and every day in a safe and healthy environment. That is in part why we continue to keep our schools open in accordance with the Snohomish Health District recommendations.

We are discussing contingency planning every day, and should the situation change, or new recommendations be given, we are committed to continuing to work hard to keep our students and staff safe and healthy.  Along those lines, one way we can all support each other through a very challenging time is to remain calm, continue some semblance of normalcy for our students, and grant each other some grace to understand we’re all working hard in a situation very few of us have experienced.

We will continue to send regular updates as new information is released and the situation continues to evolve.
