A power outage at Marysville Pilchuck High School and our surrounding neighborhoods occurred this morning from about 7:50-8:20 am. Power is now restored and school is operating on a normal schedule. PUD is investigating the cause of the outage.

CHROMEBOOKS MUST BE TURNED IN ASAP! Friday, June 15th is the LAST day to turn in Chromebooks, cords, etc. at MPHS. After June 15th they must be turned in at the Marysville School District at 4220-80th St NE (M-F, 8-4:30 pm) by June 19th or a $50 non-refundable fee will be accessed. All outstanding Chromebooks will be shut off at the District level on June 19th. Chromebooks are not available for purchase. SUMMER SCHOOL - Students in Summer School or Tulalip Heritage School cannot keep their Chromebooks, these programs will provide other computers.

Summer Extended Learning (Summer School) Anyone interested in summer school? See your counselor and pick up registration forms in the counseling office to sign up for the extended learning summer program. Summer school goes from June 21st-July 3rd. Students in grades 11-12 can retrieve credits at no cost. Breakfast and lunch are also free, but you need to provide your own transportation. State Testing begins next week! On Tuesday and Wednesday of the next two weeks (April 17,18, 24 &25) MPHS will have an altered schedule so that we can proctor the Smarter Balanced Assessment in English/Language Arts and Math. All sophomores and any juniors or seniors who have not met standard are assigned to a testing location during the testing time (7:30-10) on these days. STAMP Test! Is English your second language? Would you like to take the STAMP test to see if you can earn high school credit for your knowledge of your first language? Would you like to join MPHS Administrators on a learning walk? Learning walks are brief classroom visits, about 10 minutes in length, where you can get a glimpse of the amazing learning happening at Marysville Pilchuck High School. All you have to do is show up! There will be coffee, a few short classroom visits, and a debriefing session with time for discussion and an opportunity to provide feedback. MPHS Drama Club will be presenting their annual Radio Variety Show on Friday, December 8 at 5:00 pm in the auditorium. This year's show involves singing and an adaption of the movie "Home Alone." Admission is free, but donations will be gladly accepted for the Marysville Food Bank!

Now through December 15, students can submit their pledges to graduate on www.lockettpledge.com. The school to reach 100% of pledges first or the highest % of pledges based on their enrollment by Friday, December 15 receives $5,000 and a visit from Tyler Lockett! In addition, the top 5 runner-up schools receive $1,000! Only one pledge per student is permitted. How Students Pledge? It's easy! 1. Go to www.lockettpledge.com. 2. Click on the Student button. 3. Students fill out their pledge, choose your high school from the drop down menu, and include their contact information. 4. Click submit. Student pledges only need to be one sentence long and describe why it's important to them that they graduate from high school. Only one pledge per student is permitted.

Our food drive is underway. We will be collecting food all the way through November 20th and everything collected will be donated to the Marysville food bank. We are doing school-wide prizes for the amount of items collected. If we as a school collect 35000 items, then the ASB will sponsor a field day in June. Students should bring donations to their 2nd period class.

Armed Services Vocational Battery (ASVAB) testing is free of charge for Juniors and Seniors on October 20th from 7:45-10:45 am in the M-P Library. This is the only time the ASVAB will be offered at MPHS this year. The ASVAB is the most widely used vocational aptitude test in America and is administered in high schools nationwide. Test results are combined with other supportive materials to assist students in determining their career interests, abilities and personal references. Test score interpretation offers information about the world of work and career opportunities by identifying occupations that match the student’s own characteristics. Students do not have to be interested in the military to take this test. If a student is interested in the military, this test is required for entry. Students sign up in the Career Center with Mr. Carpenter.

And how would you like to learn how to make your own yummy French pastries? Well now you can! MP students are going to France this summer and would love for you to join us. If you are interested in participating in this one in the lifetime cultural and educational experience, come see Madame Huvé in room EB5 to get more information about our upcoming meeting. This is not a district-sponsored event but is open to all M-P students.
PSAT/NMSQT: On October 11 Juniors will have the opportunity to take the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The PSAT/NMSQT will show students where they are in terms of preparation for the SAT as well as possibly identify them for the National Merit Scholarship. This test will take place in the morning, and students who are testing will be excused from your classes during that time. The last day to sign up is October 10. We have a limited number of spots--only the first 75 who sign up will test. To sign up: Pay $16 for the test fee (payable at the cashier’s window). Bring your receipt to Connie Paz in the counseling center. She will add you to the list. Sophomores will have the opportunity to test in the spring.

Marysville Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps is showing Beauty and the Beast on Thursday, August 24 from 7:30 - 11 p.m. outside of the OC building at Marysville Pilchuck High School. Admission is free, but be sure to bring your own chairs and blankets. NJROTC boosters will be selling popcorn, hot dogs, drinks, candy, etc. Be sure to wear your Beauty and the Beast costumes. There will be a contest for those who are 3-15.
