Dear Students, Families, and Staff,

Today marks the last day of school for the 2021 - 2022 school year. You did it! Although I have been with you for a short time, I share in your celebration of the many achievements of our schools, students, and staff.

As we wrap up the school year, anticipation and excitement of the break ahead are buzzing at each of our school campuses. The global pandemic has challenged us in various ways, and the effects of the pandemic have impacted our experience in schools. Regardless, it has been a good school year, and we are ending on a high note thanks to the incredible work of our students, teachers, classified staff, and administrators.

The District invested the COVID relief funding from the federal government and the state to directly serve students with additional support and resources both in and out of the classroom. The District maintained a focus on the social, emotional, and physical well-being and safety of our students. Over the summer, courses will be offered for students who qualify for additional learning support and high school credit retrieval.

As I write this letter, I am mindful of the cyclical nature of public education, the magic of learning, and the excitement, and possibly angst, students experience at this time of the year. So many youngsters across our District are preparing to transition to new grades and new schools. Preschoolers are getting ready for kindergarten and beyond. Our 5th grade students are moving on to the formative years of middle school. 8th graders will soon be considered “high schoolers," and our graduating seniors experienced their final days at our high school campuses. Our Board, administration, and staff especially wish to congratulate our graduates, and their parents, as our graduates prepare for post-secondary education, military, or the workforce.

Although schools are closed for the summer, the District and school administrators will be hard at work planning for the year ahead as we strive to reach and exceed the academic goals and expectations of our students and instill a sense of belonging and pride in our schools.

Finally, I want to thank our staff for the incredible impact you've had on our students. All of us play a vital role in creating unparalleled learning experiences for our students, and in ensuring they have access to the resources and support to be successful. Our teachers, classified staff, and administrators have shown tremendous dedication and commitment to supporting the needs of our students. We could not do what we do, without you.

Best wishes to our students, families, and staff for a restful and wonderful summer break.

Sincerely,

Dr. Zachary Scott Robbins
