So what is a Career & College Readiness Counselor anyway?

I can assist you with the following:

· Individualized academic planning and goal-setting.

· Planning for post-secondary options.

· Career and college admissions processes, including applications and essay review.· Career and college assessments.

· Financial planning to pay for further education and training, including financial aid and scholarship applications.· Transition from high school graduation to career and/or college.

· Resume review and creation.

· High school credit for job experience via the Work-Based Learning Program.

· And SO much more!

If you have not done so already, please take a moment to add yourself to my Google Classroom [class code: pvwblss] via your student email. Please make sure you stay up to date on all emails and posts from me regarding important information and upcoming events including college resources for seniors, upcoming college and recruiter visits, scholarship opportunities, financial aid assistance, and much more!

In regard to financial aid applications this year, there are some important things to note:Firstly, the 2024-25 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) will not be available until December 2023. The WASFA (Washington Application for State Financial Aid) will also be delayed until the FAFSA opens. Applications usually open October 1 of a student’s senior year, so this is a major shift in the college planning process. The good news is that this delay is due to positive changes in the financial aid application process:

  • The FAFSA form will be shorter and less complex.

  • More students will be eligible for federal Pell Grants, and the average Pell award will be larger.

Stay tuned for more information regarding our Financial Aid Workshops coming in December!
