At the Board of Directors’ regular session meeting on Monday evening, May 19, board director Connor Krebbs, who also serves as the current president, announced his resignation. In a prepared statement, Krebbs shared, “It is with a full heart and a deep sense of responsibility that I submit my resignation from the Marysville School Board, effective June 7, 2025. This decision comes after much reflection and is prompted by my recent application, interview, and offer for a staff position within the Marysville School District.” “Serving the Marysville and Tulalip community as a school board member and board president for the past three and a half years has been a great honor. During my time on the Board, we have faced challenges that most boards never anticipate: COVID, difficult budget decisions, district-wide restructuring, and a host of leadership transitions. Despite these trials, or perhaps because of them, I have come to admire the incredible resilience, commitment, and passion that our educators, staff, students, and families bring to this district every day,” he added.
Krebbs has served on the school board representing District Area 1 for nearly four years. His seat is among two others up for election this November. “I have appreciated President Krebbs' leadership as a school board member and look forward to his continued relationship with the school district in his new position, said Dr. Deborah Rumbaugh, Superintendent. “He has served the school district and community during some challenging times, and we are thankful for that service,” she added.
Krebbs closed with the following sentiments: “To my fellow board members, thank you for your partnership, your courage, and your unwavering dedication to doing what is right, even when it is hard. To the district leadership and staff, thank you for your tireless work and for helping bring our shared vision to life. And to the families and students of Marysville and Tulalip, thank you for your trust, your patience, and your continued engagement in shaping the future of our schools. I will always be grateful for the opportunity to serve this incredible community. The Marysville School District will continue to thrive because of the people who care deeply and lead boldly.”
Per policy, the Board of Directors will open the application process to appoint a replacement director to finish the term between June 8 and the end of the seat’s term following the November 2025 elections.
