Due to power outages at schools across the system today, Dec. 17, Marysville School District will be closed.
All before and after-school activities and athletics are also canceled.

Marysville School District buses have so far been able to transport students to and from school safely. The MSD Transportation team expects that buses will continue to be able to pick up students safely tomorrow.
MSD Leadership does not anticipate any district-wide school closures or delays due to the weather, but will continue to monitor the situation overnight.
However, MSD schools are ready to provide flexibility with student tardies and absences for families who have been affected by flood road closures and evacuations.
Ultimately, our students' safety is our top priority.

Hello Families,
Due to today’s weather and flooding in the surrounding areas, the 21st Century After-School Program will be canceled today. Please make sure your student(s) are picked up promptly after school.
If you need to make any transportation changes, please call the office prior to 3:00 PM, as the office will be very busy.
Thank you for your understanding.

We want to make you aware of an event happening near our campus tomorrow morning that may be noticeable to students, staff, and families during arrival.
The Marysville Police Department will be conducting scheduled field training at the old Liberty building across the street. This training may include:
** Multiple police vehicles
** Occasional noise (sirens or brief popping sounds)
** Flashing lights
Training is expected to begin around 8:00 a.m., though an exact end time is not yet known.
Please know there is no impact to our campus, and this activity is being coordinated with the district. School routines will continue as normal, and staff will be ready to reassure any students who may have questions or feel uneasy.
We’re sharing this information ahead of time so families are not surprised by the increased police presence during morning arrival.
As always, the safety and well-being of our students remain our highest priority. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.
Warmly,
Brian Tinsley & Travis Hammond
Principals, Liberty Elementary

BUILDING UPDATE: School will run on a regular schedule at Liberty Elementary today, Monday, November 10, as planned. Our mitigation teams have confirmed that the air quality meets standards for our staff and students to return to the building and operate safely.
However, our teams want access to the cafeteria and the main gym due to lingering odor and needed repairs, so we will reschedule today’s Veteran’s Day assembly, and lunch will be eaten in classrooms.
Thank you for your understanding.
Hello, Liberty Elementary Families
A small fire occurred in a closet in the girls’ locker room on Sunday morning. The Marysville Fire Department responded immediately and quickly extinguished the fire. There was no structural damage beyond the affected closet.
There is, however, a light smoke odor in the gym and cafeteria areas. Professional mitigation crews are on site today using air scrubbers to remove any remaining odor, and they anticipate completing this process within the next 8–10 hours.
At this time, we do not anticipate cancelling or delaying school. A final decision will be made at approximately 5:00 a.m. tomorrow after we receive the air quality report from the mitigation team. Families and staff will be notified of any updates by about 6:00 a.m.
The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority. If air quality does not meet safety standards, we will not hesitate to cancel school. We appreciate your understanding and thank our maintenance and custodial teams for their diligent work in ensuring the building is safe and ready for Monday morning.
We invite you to join us for our Veterans Day Assembly on Monday, November 10th at 10:00 AM here at Liberty.
Parents/guardians and all Veterans are welcome to attend as we honor and recognize those who have served our country.
Our Marysville School District ROTC will present the Colors and the National Anthem to open our ceremony.
We hope you can join us! 🎖️

UPDATE: The internet has been restored.
FOR YOUR INFORMATION: The Marysville School District is experiencing a district-wide internet outage this morning. Phones are still working.
Currently there is no timeline for internet being back up, but our tech team is actively working on this and collaborating with external providers to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience!
