Families, September is both Hispanic Heritage Month and Ukrainian Heritage Month! We will be honoring these cultures here at QCT. If your family is of Hispanic or Ukrainian heritage, we invite you to share a family photo for our culture board here at school. We also welcome you to come it and share about your culture in classrooms or our morning gathering time. Just reach out or email your photo to sarah_boerner@msd25.org if interested. Thank you!

Families, Attendance throughout the school year, but particularly in the first 5-days of school is crucial. Here are just a few reasons why: 1. The district bases our budgets and staffing allocations on our numbers in these initial days of school. In short, the more students attend these early days, the better resourced our school will be for the year. 2. We know that our students who made the most learning growth last year were the students who attended school regularly. Our students who missed school made the least growth in reading and math school-wide. 3. You may not realize this, but we are required to disenroll any students who do not attend in the first 5-days of school. Because school attendance is mandatory in WA State, students must legally be attending school and reenrolling your student/s is a hoop no one wants to jump through! Thank you for ensuring your children are attending school. We are here to help, so if we can assist in getting your child to school regularly, please don't hesitate to reach out! Just a friendly reminder that dismissal today at Quil Ceda Tulalip Elementary is 2:15 p.m. You may recall this is our normal dismissal time on Fridays to allow for district-wide professional learning for our staff. As part of the Marysville School District’s ongoing efforts to improve safety and security in our schools, we have installed “video doorbells” at our school entrances. Also called a buzzer system, a video doorbell is a connected camera at the school office entrance that notifies school officials when someone requests entry into the building. The new entry system will change how parents, guardians, guests, and visitors access the school during regular school hours when children are present. In addition to the continuation of all exterior doors being locked, the school's front door will also be locked, and those requesting entry will be checking in using the new system. During the times before and after school when many students enter and exit the building under adult staff supervision, the front door access will be open but locked when school is in session. The video doorbell systems installed at schools across the district are funded from a past voter-approved capital levy. Happy August QCT family! We really can use all the helping hands we can get tomorrow. Helpers of all ages and abilities are welcome!  A few details: We will be starting around 9:00 here at QCT. We have an ever growing project list. When you arrive, please check in at the front table and we can match you with a project. If you have any of the following tools that we can use tomorrow, please bring them. Pressure washers Leaf blowers Weed whackers Pruning tools Weeding tools Rakes/shovels Tarps Paint brushes, rollers, etc. Thank you all who are coming out-- we are excited to really get things spruced up for the new year and for our students!
