Superintendent Search 2021 - 2022

At the start of November 2021, the Marysville School District started a search for a new Superintendent of Schools. The School Board is seeking a person who will lead our district into the future, using our collective strengths.

The Board took action at their regular session board meeting on November 3, 2021, to select a search firm to facilitate the nationwide search for a superintendent. The Board interviewed two firms at a special meeting on October 27, 2021, and selected GR Recruiting to carry out the search.

Dr. Kristine McDuffy, GR Recruiting Team member and former longtime educator and superintendent, will lead the search in Marysville. Dr. McDuffy and her team have created a robust timeline and process which kicks off on November 15, 2021, with an online survey that will be accessible through November 29 for students, families, staff, and community members to give input. The input will help in the construction of the profile of what the Marysville School District and the Marysville and Tulalip community are looking for in a new educational leader.

Board of Directors Moves Superintendent Finalist Candidate Forward - February 24, 2022
The Marysville School District Board of Directors took action during their regular session board meeting on the evening of February 23 to move superintendent finalist candidate Dr. Zachary Robbins forward in the superintendent hiring process. The next steps include the Board of Directors entering into negotiations with Dr. Robbins which will occur in the coming days. Click HERE to read the full news release.

Dr. Palsha, Superintendent Finalist, Withdraws Application - February 21, 2022
Dr. Zak Palsha, a finalist in the Marysville School District’s Superintendent search has withdrawn his application. Dr. Palsha officially notified the search firm GR Recruiting over the weekend of his intent shared Dr. Kris McDuffy, the lead consultant. “At the request of his current board, Dr. Palsha has made the decision to remain in Kuwait to complete construction projects that will occur over the next year” she added.

Marysville’s school board is moving forward in the process. The Board will meet in executive session on February 22nd to deliberate on the two remaining finalists; Dr. Peggy Aune and Dr. Zac Robbins. Deliberations will include the review of all feedback received from students, families, staff, and community members following the finalist's visits to the school district last week.

Superintendent Finalists Named - February 5, 2022
The Marysville School District Board of Directors took action during a special session meeting this evening to name three finalists to move forward for the position of Superintendent of Marysville Schools.

Paul Galovin, President of the school board, called the meeting to order and announced that the Board of Directors followed a rigorous process under the direction of GR Recruiting the consultant firm who led the search. Dr. Kris McDuffy, lead consultant for GR Recruiting shared that 42 individuals showed interest in the position. Eleven candidates who met the district’s qualifications were moved forward for board review. Out of those, the board selected five to bring forward as semifinalists.

Superintendent Search Process - Update, January 18, 2022
The search for a new Marysville School District Superintendent of Schools is well underway. Under the direction of consulting firm GR Recruiting, multiple opportunities have been provided to solicit feedback from students, parents/guardians, staff, community members, and leaders through a variety of online and in-person meetings and a community survey.

In accordance with the published timeline, the firm and the Marysville School District Board of Directors are on track in the process.

The deadline for all application materials was January 17. Between now and January 24, the GRR lead team will screen applications and begin reference checks. The top candidates will be presented to the Board of Directors by January 26 and first-round interviews will be held in executive session with the Board of Directors between February 2nd and 4th, with finalist interviews scheduled February 14th and 15th. 

Finalists' interviews will include additional opportunities for students, parents/guardians, staff, community members, and leaders to participate and provide feedback on each finalist.

When the process is complete, the consulting team will meet with the Board of Directors to finalize details at which time the Board of Directors will set a meeting date to take action to hire the Superintendent. This may be completed after finalists interviews at a special meeting or later in February.
