Marysville School District Sports Programs for the 2024 - 2025 School Year

Marysville School District is excited about providing a sports program for

middle school students beginning in the new 2024 - 2025 school year.

Marysville, WA – The Marysville School District is pleased to announce that there will be no reduction to varsity and junior varsity sports this spring or for the 2024 - 2025 school year. In addition, the district plans to provide a middle school sports program beginning in the new school year.

Due to budgetary constraints, middle school sports were eliminated for the 2022 - 2023 and the 2023 - 2024 school years. In preparation for the upcoming school year, the district will hold meetings with the athletic director and coaches to design a middle school sports program for the upcoming 2024 - 2025 school year. These discussions will focus on potential improvements to the program's structure and operation, including reducing the program's costs and ensuring that middle school students can access a diverse range of athletic experiences.

The district recognizes the importance athletic programs provide for students socially, academically, and physically and how participation in middle school prepares student athletes for high school programs. The availability of sports in our schools positively impacts student enrollment, which drives new enrollment into the district.

The district thanks and appreciates Snohomish County and Councilman Nate Nehring for providing a two-year grant to offer middle-level students opportunities to participate in athletic activities at the Marysville Boys and Girls Club and the YMCA.

As the middle school sports program develops, the district will share more information with families and the community.
