Marysville students can graduate with six years of college and career preparation, personalized planning, and a future roadmap

From 6th grade through graduation, students in the Marysville School District are engaged in research, practice, preparation, and planning for their future careers.

Msvl. WA - The Marysville School District is committed to ensuring students graduate with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed. To achieve this goal, school counselors, teachers, and administrators work tirelessly to provide students with high school and beyond planning resources. From middle school through high school graduation, students are given access to various tools that help them plan their academic and professional pathways.

To facilitate this process, the district uses a web-based hub, Xello, available for students from grades 6 to 12. Xello offers lessons and activities that help students fulfill the Washington State High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP) requirements. This platform allows students to reflect on their interests, skills, and abilities and explore different careers and pathways.

In middle school, students learn about essential habits that can set them up for success, such as organization and time management. They also explore careers that align with their interests and personality styles and receive guidance on transitioning to high school. With the help of counselors and advisors, they plan their courses for high school.

In high school, students have the opportunity to revise their plans and set goals for their future. They learn important skills such as building professional resumes and interviewing for jobs, and they receive guidance on choosing a career path and financing their plans. By graduation, each student has a completed personalized plan and the necessary skills to succeed in their chosen field.

Looking ahead, the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) is in the process of selecting a platform (such as Xello) as a universal High School and Beyond planning tool for students across the state. The district will inform students and families once OPSI makes a decision.
