Hello Timberwolf Families, Next week we will have a modified conference schedule. Parent Teacher Conferences on November 2nd and 3rd: Our parent-teacher conferences will be held on Wednesday November 2nd and Thursday November 3rd. Students will have early release at 11:50 next Wednesday-Friday, and will be offered a take-and-go sack lunch to bring home with them. The conferences will be “arena style” where parents may come when it is convenient for them and have a brief check in with each of their student’s teachers. We highly encourage all parents and guardians who can attend the earlier times to do so as the evening time is generally the most crowded. Here are the times and information you need to know. Conferences will be Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 1pm - 3pm and Wednesday evening from 4:30pm - 7pm. 6th grade conferences will be held in the cafeteria. 7th and 8th conferences will be held in the gym. Fundraiser pickup for those participating will be on the stage in the cafeteria. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you next week! Sincerely, CMS Staff Here is a link to the Marysville School District Calendar* for your reference. *If you refer to the calendar please note the center of the document with the section that is specific to middle school parent teacher conferences dates.

Our PTSA is in need of parents to fill officer positions. If we are unable to fill these positions we will lose our PTSA and the funds that they generate throughout the year. There is a PTSA meeting scheduled for Thursday, October 20th in the Library. Please consider volunteering to help keep the PTSA here at Cedarcrest!

Outdoor Activities: Due to the air quality staying at unhealthy levels, outdoor activities for students including elementary school recess and outdoor PE for all grades are to be held indoors where feasible. In addition, outdoor after-school sports practices are to be moved inside where feasible. The status of scheduled after-school sports competitions will be monitored and communicated directly to coaches from the Athletic Department and to parents/guardians through FinalForms. Smoke and Particulates: Many of our buildings are experiencing the smell of smoke indoors. To help alleviate some of the smell, the airflow has been reduced. This will not eliminate the smell of smoke. Each building has filters that are changed on a regular cycle. These filters may help to reduce the particulates indoors. Students and staff who must walk outside between classes and who are in sensitive groups may want to consider wearing a mask to help limit exposure and reduce the inhalation of particulates. Masks are available from your school offices. This current order is in effect through Thursday (October 20) evening.

SUPERINTENDENT ROBBINS TO HOLD COMMUNITY BUILDING CIRCLES Marysville School District SEP 26, 2022 Engage. Inspire. Prepare. Superintendent Robbins to Hold Community Building Circles As part of his Entry Plan work, Dr. Robbins, Marysville School District Superintendent, is planning to hold Community Building Circles in schools across the District. Community building circles are spaces where participants engage in intentional communication to share experiences and build relationships with each other. “There is no ‘typical’ community building circle because all circles are unique and are informed by circle participants,” said Dr. Robbins. Community building circles are designed to establish foundations that guide how a community interacts with each other and bring communities closer through sharing stories and perspectives. Participants will learn how community-building circles help establish a safe and supportive space conducive to equitable and authentic conversation. Currently, there are four scheduled opportunities for parents, guardians, and school staff to attend: Shoultes Elementary School, September 29, 6:30 pm Cedarcrest Middle School, October 6, 8:00 am Allen Creek Elementary School, October 6, 4:00 pm Marysville Pilchuck High School, October 13, 6:30 pm Community members and/or parents, guardians, and staff from other schools are welcome to attend and participate in any of the above opportunities.

Recently a group of staff from the Marysville School District and The Tulalip Tribes attended the Native Voices Educator Art Academy Training at the Skokomish Community Center during the week of August 1 - 5. The group trained in equity, diversity, and the arts in relation to Native American arts and culture, earning 13 STEM clock hours and 17 equity hours, with the potential for more with classroom mentorship! The Arts Impact Team included mentors who guided us through the week with the Skokomish Tribe graciously hosting us. Representation included Cedarcrest Middle School, Totem Middle School, MPHS, Lead Native Liason-Matt Remle (not pictured), and Tulalip Tribal members.
